On 09 April at the Fincantieri shipyard in Muggiano (La Spezia), the first 'How to become a Ship' seminar was held, organised by the New Shipbuilding Centre of the Navy (Marinalles) with the support of Fincantieri.
The event was attended not only by students from the Department of Naval Engineering of the Genoa University Pole, representatives of the local small and medium-sized enterprises of the sector, and the main MM authorities of the La Spezia area and the Logistic Command, but also by many representatives of the Private Industry such as Fincantieri, Leonardo, MBDA, Cetena, Baglietto, and Blue Hub - the Special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce of the Rivieras di Liguria - whose President, Dr. Cristiana Pagni, illustrated the general outlines of the forthcoming SEA FUTURE 2018 (v.link).
Expertise, synergy and technology were the defining elements of the day. A growing expertise in the process of fitting out new naval constructions is increasingly maturing in the Armed Force, both in the technical field and in the field of preparation and initial training of crews. This is confirmed by the current shipbuilding programmes such as FREMM, PPA, LSS, LHD and UNPAV, which have already involved and will involve in the next decade the industrial pole of eastern Liguria, with important positive effects on the territory, both in terms of employment and investment.
The day ended with a guided tour on board the eighth FREMM in preparation, Ship Antonio Margeglia.
