In the National Recovery and Resilience Plan there is also a place for space, with an investment forecast for satellite and space technologies as effective tools for economic recovery and sustainable development.
"Space," reads the PNRR, "is by now widely recognised as a strategic activity for economic development, both for the potential impulse it can give to technological progress and to the major 'transition' themes of economic systems (e.g. anticipating the implications of climate change through satellite observation), and for the natural continental/European scale that characterises its sphere of action and investment coordination. Analysing the global market context and the characteristics of the Italian space industry, a National Plan was produced to strengthen earth observation systems for monitoring territories and outer space, and to reinforce national skills in the space economy. The National Plan includes several lines of action: SatCom, Earth Observation, Space Factory, Space Access, In-Orbit Economy, Downstream. The resources allocated by the PNRR - it is pointed out - will cover a share of the investments defined for these lines of action'.
The space sector is a candidate to represent one of the drivers of greatest potential and impact for the recovery and growth of our country. Defence Tech also intends to increasingly focus on this strategic sector.
