Also this year, the Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2023, compiled by the Centre for Cybersecurity of the World Economic Forumin collaboration with Accenture.
The document takes a snapshot of the state of the art and the main challenges in the field of cyber security, providing companies with guidelines to follow in order to build their cyber resilience.
In the days when one of the most widespread news stories in Italy and elsewhere is about the ransomware attack on VMware ESxi servers, it is evident how much still needs to be done to extend an all-round cyber culture from businesses down to individuals using digital channels.
The 2023 report, the result of interviews with hundreds of Business and Cyber Leaders from companies around the world, returns important insights, such as:
- The Global Cyber Landscape: The global geopolitical context has brought greater volatility in cyber threats, which are increasingly focused on attacks aimed at causing great damage to business and reputation. This has led to greater awareness of the threat of cyber attacks among leaders, who believe a catastrophic cyber event is very likely in the next two years.
- How the perception of leaders changes: more than 39% of the leaders agree that Cyber Security is a key aspect of their business, so much so that it is increasingly cited as a priority element in their business strategy.
- A glimpse into the future: The development of Cyber Security depends on better communication between business and cyber leaders, so that all senior figures are up-to-date and aware of cyber risks and can make better business decisions. Furthermore, it is not enough to integrate experienced Cyber Security figures, the entire corporate population must be made aware, so that each employee recognises his or her responsibility as an individual in helping to manage these threats.
