As part of the Computer Security course held by our Aaron Visaggio at the Faculty of Computer Engineering at Unisannio, the team of our Malware Lab was invited to support an interactive workshop to introduce students to malware analysis.
The workshop took place in 3 lessons whose programme included, among others:
- malware analysis;
- use of various opensource tools for malware analysis;
- use of sandboxes for analysis;
- practical analysis workshop on .NET malware;
- Practical examples of reverse engineering of native and malware code written in the C programming language.
Real cases of infection have been described, especially malware-as-a-service (MaaS) ransomware.
Lessons were held alternating theoretical concepts and practical methodologies necessary to address all stages of the analysis.
It was a real pleasure to be able to share our experiences with young undergraduates full of enthusiasm and willingness to learn!
