On the occasion of the Space Week, we present Space Keywordsour glossary in seven steps to narrate the strategic role of Space for society and security.
We open this path with the first of the keywords, theEarth Observation.
Earth observation is the activity of collecting, processing and analysing environmental data. Thanks to optical, radar and multispectral sensors mounted on orbiting satellites, we can monitor our territory, detecting phenomena such as landslides, fires, floods and other natural disasters.
The data collected then support crucial activities, as the emergency management, the monitoring of critical infrastructures, the border surveillance, detection of illegal activities in the lands and seas.
Among the most advanced programmes in this field is IRIDEthe national initiative financed mainly with PNRR funds, to which Tinexta Defence also contributes its expertise, which will provide services to enhance the decision-making capacity of institutions, public bodies and Civil Protection.
With Space Keywords we explore a new keyword every day to better understand the domain of space.
See you tomorrow with the next one!
