"The cyber domain is the multiplier that holds everything together".
With these words, the Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto defined the perimeter of an increasingly pervasive and systemic threat, illustrating the need for an active strategy against the hybrid operations.
It is in this context that our new study, which analyses GTG-1002espionage group attributed to China and recently designated by Anthropic as the first state actor to orchestrate a large-scale cyber espionage campaign driven by artificial intelligence.
The study deepens:
- OSINT evidence on GTG-1002 and its use of generative AI for automated content creation, phishing and social engineering;
- the updated mapping of the main Chinese state actors active in the cyber domain;
- the strategic framing of hybrid threats in the light of the recent non-paper of Minister Crosetto.
It is now clear that there is a paradigm shift taking place and the implications do not only concern National Security, but also Western companies, which are exposed to increasingly sophisticated influence and sabotage operations.
