The beginning of 2023 was characterised by several ransomware and DDOS attacks that created real media short-circuits.
The alarmism generated by attacks that are handled on a daily basis by insiders once again highlights the lack of awareness and culture of companies and individuals in the cyber field.
In Italy, only large companies have started to take concrete steps towards IT security, while Cyber Security is still not seen as a priority for SMEs for their business, so much so that 83.9% of Italian companies use only unsophisticated security measures, such as weak passwords or data backup (source: ISTAT).
If one thinks of the Italian entrepreneurial fabric, this is a paradox that makes one reflect on how crucial it is to focus on SMEs in order to build strong IT resilience in our country.
To do this, it is necessary to correctly and competently disseminate these issues to create awareness of risks and solutions, only then will it be possible to creating a cyber culture widespread and uniform in our country.
At the same time, it is necessary for industry players to continue to invest in research and development, to implement technologically advanced solutions, to counter the evolution of cyber attacks.
Defence Tech, through its Malware Lab, carries out daily malware analysis, with the aim of understanding the characteristics of attacks at an early stage and consolidating the knowledge needed to make the risk mitigation process more effective and faster.
