In its new report, produced in collaboration with Accenture, the World Economic Forum highlights how the evolution of cyber risk today is driven by structural factors that are directly affecting the strategic decisions of organisations.
The study focuses on three main factors:
- the accelerated adoption of theartificial intelligencewhich expanded the attack surfaces and introduced new security criticalities;
- the geopolitical fragmentationcentral to risk mitigation strategies;
- the growth of cyber-enabled fraudincreasingly widespread and now perceived as a priority also at board level and not only at operational level.
The overall picture of the report shows that cyber risk is growing faster than the ability of many organisations to govern it. Therefore, cyber security must be addressed as a shared responsibility, involving governance, expertise and cooperation between different actors.
