Today, 11 February, we celebrate the Day International of Women and Girls in Scienceestablished in 2015 by the UN General Assembly.
This anniversary underlines the importance of promoting the full and equal participation of women in scientific fields.
As pointed out by the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, "Today, only one out of every three engineering researchers in the world is a woman. [...] This inequality is depriving our world of enormous untapped talent and power of innovation. We need women's perspectives to ensure that science and technology work for everyone'.
Encouraging and supporting women in science not only promotes gender equality, but also enriches research with diverse perspectives, contributing to significant progress for society as a whole.
