Today, 8 June, we celebrate the World Oceans Dayreminding us of the vital importance of the oceans for our survival.
The oceans cover three quarters of our planet and ensure the survival of 3 billion people, contributing 5% of global GDP.
However, plastic pollution seriously threatens these ecosystems and, without urgent action, there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans by 2050.
It is imperative to act now to safeguard these precious ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future for the next generations.
