Established in 2013 by Intel, this day is dedicated to one of the basic tools for online security: the password.
By now, we use it for access and login on so many platforms, but the attention we pay to its creation is often completely inappropriate (81% of computer violations, in fact, are perpetrated through the use of users' own credentials. Source: 'la Repubblica').
The password is a tool that is as useful as it is targeted, to such an extent that modern cybercriminal organisations also resort to artificial intelligence to circumvent its protection system.
A password, therefore, should be at least 12 to 15 characters long and/or use additional security tools to be effective:
- biometric authentication;
- multi-factor security;
- authentication via token.
Hence the need for an awareness day, to remind us, once again, that using secure passwords means protecting ourselves from cyber attacks.
