This week, our Malware Lab performed a new analysis on malware introduced into our honeynet, by an unidentified threat actor, following a Bruteforce attack.
This type of attack aims to gain unauthorised access to devices connected to the Internet, but in this case the target was an isolated machine monitored for analysis purposes.
The malware under analysis was captured by our honeynet, a collection of honeypots with the task of attracting and trapping intruders attempting to penetrate organisations' computer systems, also tracing the location of the IP from which each attack originates.
According to our analysis, the attack took place between 16 and 22 February, and totalled over 3,000 access attempts from four different IP addresses.
