In the debate on STEM disciplines, the gender gap still remains a difficult knot to untangle, especially in Italy.
According to the Focus Gender Gap 2025 of the AlmaLaurea, although women perform better or are brighter, female graduates in this area represent only a minority share, 41.4% of the total. When they enter the labour market, however, they continue to experience significant differences in terms of stability and pay.
Talking about this gap at the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and filling it must be a matter of fairness, but also a strategic choice for innovation and sustainable growth.
